‘Southern Cities Qualifier’

June 21^st – 22^nd, 2008

The Lake Norman Tennis Association will host the 3rd Annual Southern Cities Qualifier June 21^st – 22^nd to determine the doubles teams that will represent Lake Norman in Atlanta for the Southern Cities Championships. The City Championship team will consist of the 4 doubles pairs winning the NTRP computer rated Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5 levels in the Southern Cities Qualifier. The Tri-Level Championship team representatives will be the 1st place team at the 2.5 level and the 2nd place teams at the 3.0 and 3.5 levels. Participants on the Tri-Level Championship team may be self-rated or computer rated. Computer & self-rated players may sign up at the appropriate levels in the Lake Norman Southern Cities Qualifier, but only computer rated players may go on to Atlanta on the City Championship team. Computer or self-rated players may compete on the Tri-Level Championship team in Atlanta.

The Southern Cities Championship (SCC) will be held in Atlanta, Georgia August 21^st– 23^rd. As in the previous two years, SCC is hosting two separate events. Both Championships are held concurrently with teams competing from across the Southeast. The City Championship is an invitational tournament with teams competing at NTRP computer rated 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels. The 2nd tournament is a Tri-Level Championship with players competing at NTRP computer or self-rated 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 levels.

A $10.00 portion of each doubles team entry fee in the LNTA Southern Cities Qualifier will go directly to the Charlotte affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. An organization dedicated to ending breast cancer forever.

Format: Women’s 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5 doubles only. The ‘Southern Cities Qualifier’ format is a round robin of eight game pro sets, with each team playing the others entered in their division. *The format may be changed or divisions may be divided into flights at the discretion of the Tournament Committee based on weather or large number of entries. USTA Rules of Tennis and The Code shall apply.

Court Type: 12 hard courts.

Player Requirements: Players may have a certified NTRP rating or self-rating and live in the area they represent. Winning doubles teams representing Lake Norman in the ‘SCC’ in Atlanta are responsible for their own lodging, meals etc. Players must be committed to playing in the ‘Southern Cities Championship’ in Atlanta, August 21^st – 23^rd to enter the ‘Southern Cities Qualifier’.

Awards: Awards will be given to each winning doubles team along with an invitation to represent Lake Norman and compete in the Southern Cities Championship in Atlanta Georgia, August 21^st – 23^rd.

Tournament Entry: Fee: $40.00 per doubles team. Women’s 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5 doubles teams. Contact Iris Ham at irisusta@mindspring.com to sign up in the ‘Southern Cities Qualifier’. Monday, June 16th deadline. Please be sure that you will be available to play in the Southern Cities Championship in Atlanta, August 21^st – 23^rd upon entering the LNTA Southern Cities Qualifier.

In the event inclement weather prevents the completion of tournament on June 21^st & 22^nd, players may be asked to reschedule and play matches on their own.
