 Welcome to The Lake Norman Tennis Association Junior website.

The Lake Norman Tennis Association in conjunction with the USTA has structured two programs to get and keep beginning thru advanced level kids interested in tennis.

The First Tennis program involves a beginner level league (Red Division) and an intermediate level league (Blue Division).  Player must be a USTA member

The Second Tennis program involves the Compass Draw Singles (ages 14-16, advanced players, separate divisions for boys and girls). No USTA membership required.

The season will be 6-8 weeks long (+2 more weeks added for makeup matches).

Matches will be played every Sunday:

Registration will start March 1st thru the 14th of 2008  

Schedule will be out the week o f March 24th.  

Start Date will be March 30th.

Description of programs:

Beginner & Intermediate Levels

The teams can be co-ed and will consist of 4-6 players, ages 10-12 Red team and ages 12-14 Blue team. This program involves coaching/practice 1-2 times a week (to be determined by your team) as well as one match on Sunday afternoons for approximately 6- 8 weeks beginning in March.  Beginner level must know how to serve and keep score.

Teams will play one doubles match and one singles match every Sunday afternoon. 

  • Who can play: The teams can be co-ed and will consist of 4-6 players.
  • Times: Red team plays at 1:00, Blue team plays at 2:00.
  • Where matches are played:    Each team will need access to two “home” courts for each Sunday match that they host.
  • Cost: $21 per child

Junior Compass Draw

This is a singles league where players play one match every Sunday afternoon, but also    have until Thursday to make up the match in case of bad weather or scheduling conflict. The Compass Draw format ensures players of similar skill levels find each other in the draw.

  • Who can play: Advanced level boys and girls ages 14-16. Ideally these players would have tournament experience or play on a high school team etc.
  • Time & Schedule of play: Matches are set to start at 3:00 PM unless rescheduled by players. Each week, the player is responsible to check the draw (thru this website) for their next opponent and location.
  • Where matches are played: Matches are played on the home player’s courts and will be changed every week. Home court provides the balls.
  • Cost: $20 per child (USTA membership is not required).
